 Noise, vibration, warning lights, or changes in pedal feel are common signs.  If your car makes a grinding sound or squeak or squeal when you step on the brake pedal, that is a good indicator as well. If your car pulls to one side when braking or takes longer than normal to come to a stop those are good signs you should have a brake inspection immediately.

Brake life depends on driving habits, vehicle type, and conditions. Manufacturers provide guidance as to how long they last, but brakes are one component that has very little to do with a car's age or mileage. Brakes on a truck that is always loaded down can fail much sooner than the guidance suggests. 

 Not always. Rotor condition determines whether replacement is needed.  Rotors are designed to last longer than brake pads. Some manufacturers have known issues with their rotors and actually require them to be replaced more frequently. We know which makes and models are problematic, so bring your car by or call us before purchasing a used vehicle.
